PERCUSSION REVOLVER: 36 cal; 5 shot cylinder; 6 1/2" (165mm) octagonal barrel with bright bore, sharp rifling, some minor oxidation in grooves, vg. overall; silver steel finish to metalwork, soft brown patina developing on barrel; brass trigger guard & straps retain 40% silver plating, mellow gold patina to remainder; crisp two-line MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS CO. NEWARK, N.J. over PATENTED MARCH 8, 1864 marked to top of barrel flat; cylinder roll stamped with five oval scenes incl. horseback, naval with rowboat & gun fight scene; cylinder also marked with crisp patents; action functioning well, crisp cylinder indexing, strong sears & springs; screws heads are f., some burring; matching serial no. marked to barrel, trigger guard, frame & butt of back strap; German silver front blade sight, notch rear sight to nose of hammer; smooth walnut grips in fine cond, 85% of varnished finish remaining, one minor ding to lh grip; overall in exc. wo & vg. cond. #51196 Pre 1900 L/R A lovely example of a fairly uncommon Civil war era revolver
